Claim (damage report)

What is Claim (damage report)?

A claim is the consignee's or shipper's notice of damage, shortage or delay. The deadlines are short, so act quickly.

Also called: damage, damage report, claim

Under CMR:

  • Visible damage: make a reservation on the consignment note or POD at delivery.
  • Concealed damage: written notice no later than 7 days after delivery (Sundays and public holidays excluded).
  • Delay: written notice no later than 21 days after the goods were placed at the consignee's disposal.

Claims are as a rule time-barred after one year. Take photos, keep the packaging and contact us straight away.
