CMR
What is CMR?
CMR is the 1956 international convention on contracts for the carriage of goods by road – and the name of the consignment note that travels with the goods.
Also called: consignment note, waybill, CMR note
CMR applies when goods are carried by road for reward between two countries, at least one of which is a party to the convention. It covers the consignment note, the carrier's liability and time limits for claims, among other things.
The carrier's liability for lost or damaged goods is limited to 8.33 SDR per kg of gross weight. Damage must be noted at delivery.
