LDM (loading metre)

What is LDM (loading metre)?

LDM (loading metre) is one metre of the truck's load floor across its full width (approx. 2.4 m). It is used to price goods by the floor space they take up.

Also called: loading metre, loading meter, ladmeter

The formula is length × width ÷ 2.4. A EUR pallet (1.2 × 0.8 m) takes 0.4 LDM, and a semi-trailer has about 13.6 LDM.

Many rate sheets convert LDM into chargeable weight using a fixed factor per loading metre. The price is then based on the higher of actual and converted weight.
